Schoolwork is Out But Shades are In

Two weeks ago the school year ended. That means a houseful of kids. It also means that the family will be practically living outdoors. All of us enjoy spending our days in the fresh air and sunshine, after months of fall and winter gloom. The first thing we usually do each summer is make sure everyone has all the gear they need. This includes bathing suits, flippers, masks, and, of course, sunglasses. I always make sure they wear glasses with polarized lenses, to protect them from glare and eyestrain. As far as the kids are concerned, stepping outside in their shades is simply the official start of summer.
