Preventing Identity Theft
August 15th, 2009 by admin
Shredding your personal documents which you no longer have any use for is one of the most important ways you can prevent identity theft. Because thieves usually know their victim in some form or another, either being family or acquaintances, it’s likely that the thief knows what type of credit card you have, as well as who your banking institution is.
With this information, they can easily steal your mail, or go through your trash to retrieve sensitive documents with names and account numbers on them if you don’t have identity theft protection plans. Once the information is obtained, it’s only a matter of time before the thief uses it to obtain new credit cards, or even clean out your bank account.
